We venture to the outskirts of Puerto Maldonado, accompanied by a local guide equipped with powerful flashlights, binoculars, and a telescope. We search among the trees and along the roadsides for one of the most difficult species to see in the jungle – the sloth (Bradypus variegatus or Choloepus didactylus). These slow‑moving, elusive animals are rarely spotted during the day, but at night they become more active. With patience and a bit of luck, we will find them, enjoy their unique beauty, and take photos and videos of this unforgettable encounter.
