Tour Description

We begin with approximately 30 minutes of navigation along the Madre de Dios River to the access point of Lake Sandoval. From there, a 3‑km hike through the Tambopata National Reserve gives you the opportunity to observe the area’s great diversity of flora and fauna – giant trees, medicinal plants, monkeys, birds, and insects.

Once on the lake shore, we board a traditional rowing canoe and paddle across the calm waters. During the tour, you will enjoy the exceptional beauty of the lake. With luck, you may spot wildlife such as:

  •  Monkeys (howler, capuchin, or squirrel monkeys)

  •  Macaws and parrots

  •  Birds (toucans, herons, kingfishers)

  •  Giant otters (rare but possible)

The experience culminates with a breathtaking sunset over Lake Sandoval – perfect for photography.
